Before the sun rose Friday morning, these four young men set out to meet new students, test their knowledge, and represent Clyde Boyd Middle School at this year's 2024 Muscogee Challenge Bowl. They battled all the way to the fifth round before being eliminated. Congratulations to team Lvmhe (lum-hee)!

Congratulations to our November Sandite Heroes & Role Models! These students were chosen based on the character trait of service. We are so proud these inspiring students are Sandites!
We are thankful for Brenner & Brooke Farr, faithful Sandite community members and parents, for providing treats for our heroes!
CBMS is thrilled to introduce our first ever Archery team! After spending the first three months teaching the archery classes about the safety and logistical components of the sport, Mrs. Myers conducted tryouts for the official archery team. There were 11 sixth graders and 13 seventh graders invited to compete at three shoots this year. We are so excited to watch these students compete and excel at their sport. Go Sandites!
Mrs. Jackson's Grit Class raised over $650 for Sand Springs Community Services. Their goal was $500. The students raised the money by decorating pumpkins and having the students vote on their favorite by bringing change. The winning pumpkins were Patrick and Spongebob, Homer and Marge Simpson, and Snow White and her Dwarfs. Congratulations on exceeding your goal and helping our community!
Congratulations to our site 2023-2024 Teacher of the Year: Kristen Clay!
Mrs. Clay is a special education teacher who has been at the Sixth Grade Center for 3 years. She has been in Sand Springs Public Schools for 7 years, almost half of her 15 year career. Mrs. Clay is described by her colleagues as one of the most patient and kind teachers with whom they have worked. She creates a welcoming environment for all students and is exceptional at providing each student with exactly what they need.
Mrs. Clay, thank you for being part of our team!

SGC GRIT class has chosen their community service project, and we are asking for your help.
The students have designed pumpkins to look like characters. The pumpkins will be in the lobby at SGC. Each character set will have a jar in front of their pumpkins for everyone to vote on their favorite using money; we take all money donations—yes, even pennies. All proceeds will be given to the Sand Springs community food bank. Our goal is to raise $500. So dump out those piggy banks, car change holders, and purses with all the change at the bottom, and head over next week to see our amazing creations and help support the Sand Springs community food bank.
Monday, November 6 through Tuesday, November 14.
The Patch at Sand Springs & Glenpool stopped by to help us celebrate CBMS Sandites who demonstrate exceptional responsibility and citizenship. Congratulations!

SGC Families,
Mark your calendars now for one of our favorite events of the year!
For Cafe Day, guests should bring lunch to share with their student and go straight to the old gym during the appropriate lunch period (check with your student to get the right one). Don't forget to visit the Library for the Scholastic Book Fair after you eat. 6th graders will have Cafe Day on Wednesday, November 1st, 2023. We can't wait to see you!
Retakes are scheduled for Monday, October 23rd from 8-11.
Any student that purchased a package and is not happy can take a retake! They need to return the package they purchased, and we will replace it with the new photo.
Any student that was absent we need to photograph! We will bring the list of those students with us! If someone did not purchase on the first picture day but wants a retake, they must bring back the proof sheet that was sent home to the photographer or payment for a package! Anyone wanting a retake, the retake photo will replace the original photo!
The Sixth Grade Center is the proud new owner of this amazing geological collection donated by the Oklahoma Geological Foundation. This collection will be used to help students learn about Earth Science. Students will get to explore the rock cycle and geological time scale. They will be able to hold a Megalodon tooth and even get to touch dinosaur poop!!
