The library at Clyde Boyd Middle School is named for Dr. Wendell Sharpton, former Superintendent of Schools. It is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. every school day. Students may use the library before and after school with permission from the librarian. Students visit the library on a regular basis from their literature class to check out books. Students may have two books checked out. Books are checked out for 2 weeks, but may be renewed. The library also has a computer lab that is used throughout the day by classes from all subject areas.
In addition to over 8,000 fiction, non-fiction and reference books, the library computers also give students access to online encyclopedias and databases for research. One of our most helpful resources is Digital Prairie, a database of magazine, journal, and newspaper articles, provided free by the Oklahoma Department of Libraries. Digital Prairie has just added free access to Britannica Online K-8, an online encyclopedia. You may also access Digital Prairie from home. See Mrs. Starling, the librarian, for the web address, username and password for home access.
