At the November Sand Springs Board of Education meeting, the board recognized students with the Sandite Spirit Award and the board president with the Sandite Pacesetter Award.
Patience Pearce and Zoie Rogers - Charles Page High School
Charles Page High School seniors Patience Pearce and Zoie Rogers received the Sandite Spirit Award. Patience and Zoie were nominated by special education director Carrie Schlehuber for their outstanding work as interns at the Sandite Transition Academy.
In her nomination form, Ms. Schlehuber states, “They are both brilliant communicators, willing to do whatever it takes to assist our young adults in being successful. They both possess natural skills that will allow them to become AMAZING educators someday! They are both such a huge asset to our program!”
Bo Naugle - Sand Springs Board of Education
Board president Bo Naugle received the Sandite Pacesetter award. Mr. Naugle was nominated by Superintendent Sherry Durkee for his steadfast support of Sand Springs students.
During his 12+ years on the Sand Springs Board of Education, Mr. Naugle has consistently championed the importance of providing unique opportunities to reach all students. Thanks to his generosity, Charles Page High School was able to launch their broadcasting program and esports team. He was instrumental in the start of our winning Skeet and Clay Sports Team, which has led to scholarship opportunities for our students.
In her nomination form, Supt. Durkee states, “He donates his time and energy to this organization, even sharing his expertise with our students. Sand Springs Public Schools is a better place today because of his dedication to our kids.
