Clyde Boyd Middle School teacher Gina Myers received the Sandite Pacesetter Award. She was nominated by CBMS Principal Angelia Noel for her work creating and coaching the CBMS Archery Team.

“She is an innovator, trailblazer, and relentless advocate for students,” said Noel in her nomination letter. “Her unwavering commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all students inspires me and others daily.”

Eighth grader Landon Dorsey received the Sandite Spirit Award for his dedication to academics, extracurricular activities, and volunteer work.

“One of my favorite things as a teacher is to witness kids FAR exceeding your expectations,” said Dorsey’s teacher Gina Myers. “Time and again, it has been proven to me when a student/athlete feels supported and encouraged, the sky is the limit!”

For his National Junior Honor Society community service hours, Dorsey made quivers for the CBMS archery program. The team started the year using five gallon buckets, but thanks to Dorsey, they now have quivers to store their arrows. “He made a major upgrade,” said Myers. “He spent 16 hours making 12 [quivers], and I just LOVE them!”

KKT Architects continue to partner with the district in bringing to life multiple projects for the Future-Ready Sandites bond passed earlier this year. Those projects include a new building for seventh and eighth graders, an ADA entrance for Central Administrative Services, and a new press box for Memorial Stadium. Learn more about those projects..

Congratulations to these outstanding Sandites! Thank you for exemplifying the Sandite spirit of excellence.
