This morning, students and staff at Limestone Technology Academy enjoyed a surprise performance by one of their own Sandites: Singer/Songwriter Jake Tankersley. Tankersley, who is a contestant on NBC’s "The Voice," grew up in Sand Springs and attended Limestone as a child. He regularly takes the stage to compete against some of the best singers in the country. This morning, he returned to the stage where he performed for the very first time.
Tankersley’s first performance was at a Limestone school talent show, where he sang a song by Elvis Presley. Today he returned to the stage to perform an original song, “The War,” and encouraged students to pursue their goals. “I know you’ve got a dream in your heart,” said Tankersley, “and you’ve got to follow that.”
Students weren’t the only ones wowed by Tankersley’s performance. His childhood principal and teachers were thrilled to visit Limestone and watch him sing again. After his performance, he and his proud educators visited the principal’s office to reminisce. The group had saved newspaper clippings, photos, and yearbooks featuring their former student.
Thank you to Jake Tankersley for visiting Limestone, giving an unforgettable performance, and inspiring future generations of dream-chasers!
