At Sand Springs Public Schools, we take pride in honoring the remarkable contributions of our faculty, staff, and students each month. The Sandite Pacesetter Award recognizes faculty and staff who go above and beyond, while the Sandite Spirit Award celebrates students and patrons who exemplify the true Sandite spirit. This March, we are thrilled to spotlight our latest award recipients and their exceptional achievements.
Jonathan Rowe
Charles Page High School
High School Senior Jonathan Rowe has had an extraordinary year, showcasing his talents on multiple stages:
OSSAA One-Act Regional: Contributed to a 2nd place finish with an impressive performance in Lovers of Verona.
State Thespian Festival: Earned a Superior in his film entry and a $500 scholarship, qualifying for the International Thesfest this summer.
ESU Shakefest Competition: Took home first place against 21 competitors, earning an all-expenses-paid trip to Nationals at Lincoln Center in New York City this April, with the potential to advance to the International level at Oxford.
This spring, Jonathan will also be featured in multiple roles in the musical Matilda.
After high school, Jonathan plans to attend the University of New Mexico on a scholarship, where he will study film and digital arts. He hopes to obtain a paid internship with Netflix, which is within walking distance of UNM's campus.
Jonathan's dedication to his craft and his exceptional achievements in acting and film make him a deserving recipient of the Sandite Spirit Award.
Hailee Flores
Early Childhood Education Center
When a student visiting from Page Academy passed out during a morning assembly at the ECEC, Hailee Flores displayed exemplary leadership and composure. As a member of the site’s emergency response team, Hailee's quick thinking and ability to manage a high-anxiety situation were nothing short of heroic. She efficiently delegated tasks, contacted the district nurse, and provided immediate care to the student, ensuring a calm environment for both staff and students. Hailee’s ability to remain steady under pressure and her commitment to student safety make her a deserving recipient of this award.
Kim Clenney, Bonnie Larkin, and Crickett Smith
Central Administrative Services
Dubbed the “Charlie's Angels” of the HR Department, Kim Clenney, Bonnie Larkin, and Crickett Smith have transformed the efficiency and atmosphere of the Central Administrative Office.
Crickett Smith, the newest member, has seamlessly integrated into the team, handling everything from FMLA tracking to substitute hiring with a welcoming spirit that leaves a positive first impression.
Bonnie Larkin, a veteran with a wealth of knowledge, has been instrumental in supporting Child Nutrition, Maintenance, and Transportation through effective onboarding. Her willingness to help at every turn exemplifies true team spirit.
Kim Clenney embodies grace and leadership, serving as the glue that holds the team together. Known for her warmth and efficiency, Kim’s influence is felt district-wide.
Together, these three women are a powerhouse, ensuring the HR Department runs smoothly while fostering a supportive environment for all staff
Landon Fitzgerald, Carl Legg, and Denver Taylor
Clyde Boyd Middle School
This Valentine's Day, Landon Fitzgerald, Carl Legg, and Denver Taylor went above and beyond to bring smiles to their classmates. Using their own resources and time, these thoughtful students 3D-printed flowers for every girl at their school. Their act of kindness was a beautiful reminder of the power of small gestures to make others feel valued and appreciated. Their selflessness and creativity embody the Sandite Spirit.
